The new daytime talk show, “Katie”, on ABC aired for the first time on September 10th. Katie’s new multi-million dollar studio features different sets, a robotically controlled base to move Katie and her guests from one set to another and  a significant number of flat panel displays all driven by 12 channels of Abekas Mira production server.

A feature for Mira Production server designed for multi-screen on set displays is Mira MultiPLAY. This optional software allows a user to load and play clips on all of their Mira channels instantly. This is perfect for talk shows and live production where different topics are discussed. The on-set display monitors can be instantly changed to reflect the topic. This way the set is an extension of the discussion rather than just a background. The Golf Channel uses this technique when they have viewers call in to discuss techniques. A caller concerned about their short game might bring up putting clips to the on-set displays.
